The objective of this scientific conference is to create and interdisciplinary forum for the discussion of contemporary issues on the interface between theology and science. The focus on Orthodox theology aims at the articulation and the affirmation of both, the universal nature of its insights for humanity and the uniqueness of its specific Christological understanding of the dynamic relationship between God, man and the world. The conference is the first of this type in Bulgaria and will address a broader spectrum of issues in relation to several scientific disciplines including physics, technology innovation, medicine, philosophy, sociology and psychology.
The conference is organized by an international team of scholars from the Faculty of theology, Sofia University ‘St. Kliment Ohridski’, the Institute of Technology and Innovation, University of Southern Denmark, Odense and the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, Brookline, MA, USA, and co-organized by the Foundation ‘Minu Balkanski’ in Oryahovitza, Bulgaria, and the Municipality of Sofia. The organization was made possible by a Grant from the John Templeton Foundation in the USA with the support of the Communitas Foundation in Bulgaria.
